Adela Grando![]() Adela Grando is a member of the COSSAC project, working as a Research Associate at the Center for Intelligent Systems and their Applications, School of Informatics, University of Edinburgh. She is currently working on the specification, design, analysis and study of theories and formal frameworks with application in the area of Health Informatics. In particular she is interested on the comparative study based on workflow-patterns, Petri Nets and process algebras, of the expressiveness of languages used for the specification of medical guidelines. She is also researching on the area of patient safety and the detection/prevention of medical errors arising from the enactment of concurrent medical guidelines. Adela obtained a European PhD degree (excellent cum laude) in the area of Formal Languages and Applications from University Rovira i Virgili (Spain). She devoted her PhD studies to the study of concurrent systems, in particular formal frameworks for the specification of multi-agent based dialogue protocols. Before she completed a MSc in Computer Science, Universidad Nacional de Rio Cuarto (Argentina). Adela is the organizer of the Center for Intelligent Systems and Applications (CISA) Seminars, School of Informatics, University of Edinburgh.
