Installing and running Cogent

Installing and running Cogent

Installing

At the moment, Cogent is only available for Windows platforms - if you use Linux or Mac OS X, you can either use an older version, or come and talk to us and we'll get a version running for you.

When running the installer, just accept the defaults it offers, and continue. When configuration is complete, you will be presented with the Cogent window.

Running

Once you have installed and configured Cogent, the shortcut on your desktop will start it every time thereafter.

For full instructions on how to use Cogent, see the lecture notes and the online documentation at http://cogent.psyc.bbk.ac.uk.

Cogent models are distributed as archive files ending in ".car". The sample models you will be able to download from this site are in this format. Save them to "C:\Program Files\COGENT\archives". To open an archive, choose "View->Archives" in the Cogent menus, select the archive you want to open, and click "Extract". The archived project will now be available for you to load into Cogent, run, and edit it as you like.

Quitting

To quit, choose "Quit" from the menu bar.
